Email (SMTP)

Configure an SMTP server under Settings → General → Email (SMTP) so invitations and password-reset links are emailed automatically. It's optional — activation and reset links are always available to copy by hand from the Users page, so you can run Naxis Assistant without ever setting up email. Use Send test (an address box sits beside it) to confirm the settings work before relying on them — “Test email sent — check the inbox” means the server accepted it.

Host / PortYour provider's SMTP endpoint — typically port 587 with STARTTLS (Use STARTTLS is on by default). A server that doesn't answer within ten seconds counts as unreachable.
Username / PasswordThe sending account's credentials; providers with two-factor authentication issue app passwords for this. Username is optional for a server that needs no login. A stored password shows as “•••••••• (unchanged)” — leave it blank to keep it.
From addressWhat recipients see — e.g. assistant@your-company.com.
Public addressThe card beside it: emailed links are built from this address, so set it to the one people reach the assistant on. Your logo appears in emails only once it is set.

What email unlocks

Getting it wrong

Send test reports the exact failure — a rejected login, a closed port, a certificate the server doesn't trust — rather than a generic error, so the fix is usually a single field. Until the settings are correct, every feature above simply behaves as if email were never configured: nothing breaks, invitations and resets just fall back to copyable links. Once they are, every message goes out under your company name and logo, in the recipient's own language if they chose one, else the system language.

The Email (auto-reply) chat channel also sends its replies through this server — configure SMTP before setting that channel up.
