Set up Gong
Connect Gong to make your recorded calls searchable — each becomes a minutes document with Gong's own call brief and the full speaker-attributed transcript, tied to its date and the people on the call, so what a customer actually said is as searchable as any file. Read-only.
The API key pair
A technical administrator creates it in Gong under Company settings → Ecosystem → API → Get API key — an access key and its secret. Gong shows the secret once, with the key; here it's write-only after saving, so create a fresh pair if it is lost. The pair reads the calls the workspace exposes to the API; only reads are ever issued against it.
- Create the key pair as above.
- Documents → Gong, paste the Access key and the Access key secret.
- Optional, under Advanced: History to sync (days) and API address.
- Choose access groups, Test, then Sync.
What comes in
- One minutes document per call: a header with the date, duration, a link to the call in Gong, the organiser (the call's primary user) and everyone Gong lists as on the call, customers included; then Gong's own brief, key points and outline as the summary; then the full transcript.
- The transcript reads as a conversation: turns are named from Gong's own party list, consecutive sentences from one speaker merged into a single turn.
- A call still awaiting transcription is held back and picked up on a later sync rather than coming in empty — Sync notes how many are waiting.

Access
Each call is visible automatically to the internal participants Gong lists as on it, matched by email address — only Gong's own people are added to that list, never a customer on the call. The access groups you choose only cover a call with no internal participant email on record; switch How access works to “One list for everything” under Permissions to put every call from this source under those groups instead.
Up to 1,000 calls inside the window are read per sync; Sync notes it if the cap is hit — narrow the window if this persists. Minutes already synced stay searchable even when a call later leaves the window or is deleted in Gong; remove a document under Documents if one really must go. Test counts the calls in the window; on failure it says why — a rejected pair reports that Gong rejected the credentials, a wrong API address that Gong could not be reached. To cut access, revoke the pair where it was created, under Company settings → Ecosystem → API.
