If your administrator has set up chat channels, you can ask the assistant straight from a messaging app and get the same cited, access-controlled answers. Most likely you're already set up — just message the bot and see.

A reply in a messaging app carries the short form of the answer and ends with a “Sources:” link. Everything you ask there also lands in your web chat, in a conversation wearing that app's mark — the link opens exactly that conversation, where every citation shows its passage and the full answer waits behind Read more. In a group, the link takes each member to their own account's view of that room, never to anyone else's. Where no link can be offered, up to four sources are listed by name under the reply instead.

Without linking

Some channels answer before you've ever sent a code, using guest access your administrator assigned to that channel rather than to you personally. If a bot answers you straight away, that's what's happening — you're getting the channel's own access, not your own. Link your own account whenever you want the assistant to use your document access instead. A channel with no guest access asks you to link first; on text-message and email channels an unknown sender gets no reply at all.

1. Click “Link messaging apps” in the sidebar (shown when a channel can be linked) — you get a one-time code like ABC-123 and the list of bots you can send it to.
2. Open the bot in the messaging app and send it the code in a private message, not a group.
3. The bot confirms “Linked to <your name>” — from then on ask there with your own document access.

Your administrator may have linked you in advance; then your first message is answered with “You're set up — your own document access applies”.

Commands and groups

In a private chat, questions continue the same thread as in the web chat; /new starts a fresh conversation and /help lists the commands. In a group the bot behaves as your administrator chose for that channel: with the asker's own access, visible to the whole room; with the channel's guest access only; or silent. Group answers stand alone — there is no thread to continue, so /new replies that there is nothing to reset — and everyone in the room sees them, so ask privately for anything sensitive. A lookup — a title or a code on its own — comes back as the one matching document with its link, or as the first three matches with a link to all results in your web chat.
