Set up Mailchimp

Connect Mailchimp to make your sent campaigns searchable — each becomes a dated email document with its subject, audience, sender and the full text of what actually went out, so “what did we tell customers about the price change” answers from the archive itself. Read-only.

Before you start

  1. In Mailchimp open your profile icon → Account & billing → Extras → API keys → Create A Key, and copy the key.
  2. Documents → Mailchimp, paste it as API key.
  3. Choose access groups, Test, then Sync.
History to sync (days)Optional, under Advanced — how far back to read sent campaigns, by send time. Blank defaults to 730 days (two years); 3,650 is the most it accepts. A campaign already synced stays searchable when it later ages out of the window; remove it under Documents if one really must go.

What comes in

Access

Access is allow-only: the groups chosen on the source cover every campaign — the source exposes no per-item viewers to mirror.

Campaigns cap at 1,000 inside the lookback window, most-recently-sent first; when the cap is reached the sync summary says so. The listing is one paged pass, and a campaign's body is read only when it is new — a sent campaign never changes — so a steady-state sync stays cheap. Campaigns already synced stay searchable when they age out of the window. Test connects read-only and counts sent campaigns; a rejected key reads as Mailchimp rejecting the credentials. Revoke access any time by deleting the key under Account & billing → Extras → API keys.
