Every answer shows its sources
Under each answer you'll see numbered sources, and the same numbers appear in the text. Click a number or a source row to read the exact passage the answer came from, so you can verify it yourself. Naxis Assistant answers only from those passages — it never makes things up: when it finds nothing it can cite, it says so instead of answering.
What a source shows
Each source row carries the mark of the place the document lives in — a drive, a business system, a chat workspace — then the document's name and, when the passage sits inside a longer document, its section; the number at the end is the one the text cites. Six rows show at once: Show all n sources reveals the rest and Show fewer folds them away.
The passage behind a number
Clicking a number or a row opens the reference window: the document's title, its kind and date, the section path, and the passage itself laid out as it is in the document. Ask about this document puts “About “<document>”:” into the composer so your next question stays on that document. Open the original never shows a stored copy: a web page opens as itself, and a file, record or message is fetched from its source at that moment — PDFs and images display in the browser, records, pages, notes and mail as plain text, and office files download so you can open them in their own application.
Search results
A results page shows one row per document: the mark of its source, its title, its date, type and status, and up to two snippet lines with your words highlighted. The full search screen counts the whole pool, capped at sixty and shown as “60+” when it hits the cap, lists ten per page, and its rail tallies the results by source and by type — click a tally to keep only those.
What you can see
You only ever see documents your groups allow: an answer cites nothing you may not read, a results page lists nothing you may not read, and a passage or original you are not allowed to open simply does not open.
When a source disappears
Documents change: something an old answer once cited can later be edited, moved, or removed from what Naxis Assistant can see. In an older conversation such a row shows dimmed. Click it and it tells you which case you are in: the document has changed since the answer was written, so the exact passage can't be shown but Open the current document still works; or the source is no longer in the knowledge base and the passage can't be shown at all. The rest of the answer, and the other sources behind it, are unaffected.
If a number is there but nothing opens, or you land on “This document is no longer available”, you likely no longer have (or never had) permission to that document. Naxis Assistant still cited the passage that supported the answer; it just can't show you the file now. Ask your administrator if that seems wrong.
